The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is a way to show the nation’s deep gratitude to those who, in times of war and peace, have faithfully defended our country. This ceremonial paying of respect is the final demonstration a grateful nation can provide to the veteran’s families. A Military Honor Service is available to all veterans. Benefits are available to veterans whether they are interred in a national cemetery or a private cemetery. If your loved one will be laid to rest in a national cemetery, benefits include a grave site in any national cemetery with open space, fees for opening and closing of the grave, a government headstone or marker, a flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate at no cost to the family. If the veteran will be buried in a private cemetery, he or she is eligible for a government headstone or marker, a flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate. In some circumstances, he or she may be eligible for a burial allowance.
To determine exactly what benefits your loved one will receive, contact the Veterans Administration directly or visit the following websites: www.mvc.dps.mo.gov (Missouri) or Missouri State Veterans Cemetery (Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery). We can coordinate full military honors and committal, as well as provide a variety of veteran’s-themed merchandise to represent your loved one’s military career.
We will be happy to secure the Government Veteran Benefits you are entitled to (we will need a copy of your Discharge Papers). In addition, the veteran will receive 10% off all funeral home charges if pre-paid. The spouse may also receive the discount if they pre-arrange and pre-pay with you.
