Adrain Downing

Adrain Herman Downing, 83, of Moberly, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Moberly Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born November 14, 1933 in Flippin, KY to Herman Downing and Gertrude Woods Downing. Adrain relocated to Randolph County with his family in 1946. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. On April 2,1955, he married Shirley Martin at the First Assembly of God Church. He worked for Toastmaster for 32 years and then for the City of Moberly for 8 years before his retirement. Adrain enjoyed walking and was a huge Cardinal Baseball fan. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Adrain is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife. Survivors include his children, Linden (Sharon) Downing of Columbia, Donnie (Carol) Downing and Jeffrey (Barbara) Downing all of Moberly; grandchildren, Clark (Tiffany Saine) Downing of Moberly, Vance (Liz) Downing of Columbia and Katy (Lance) Martel of Moberly; siblings, Glen (Velma) Downing of Moberly, Maxine (Bob) Riley of Holliday and Dorothy Cooley of Moberly, extended family and friends. Services celebrating Adrain’s life will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home followed by interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions in Adrain’s honor may be made to the First Assembly of God Church Youth Group, 120 W Outer Road, Moberly, MO 65270.
