Anna Christine Waltman left her Earthly family and gained eternal rest on Monday, June 24th, 2024 at 4:31pm as the result of her battle with cancer. When asked to share her outlook on life with a school class, Anna shared a poem by Emily Dickinson “They might not need me, yet they might. I’ll let my heart be just in sight. A smile so small as mine might be precisely their necessity.” Anna shared so much more than her smile with those who needed her. She always rooted for the underdog, wanting everyone to have a fair chance in this world. She worked tirelessly with animal rescues, trying to save as many animals as she could. She would often say “someone has to do it, if not me, then who?” Through her 15 plus years of service as a mental health technician at Missouri University Psychiatric Center (MUPC), she touched the lives of countless children and adolescents who were battling unspoken illnesses and facing unspeakable challenges in their lives. She showed each child she encountered that they were loved, valued, and worthy. She taught her coworkers to look past the diagnosis and see the hurting child in need of aid. When Anna was not working or rescuing animals, she loved spending time with her husband, David Carr, son, Tyler (Sadie) Waltman, grandson Keegan and mother, Jan Waltman. She was looking forward to meeting her newest grandchild, who she affectionately called Taco. Anna leaves behind a legacy of love and service. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind, her sisters Heather (Matt) Pettigrew, Jennifer Delp (Jeff Sutton), Mary Waltman, Rebecca (Lacy) Hembree and Corrine (Randy) Lilliard, her bonus mom Terry Waltman, her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Anna was joined in Heaven by her father, Jess Waltman, grandmothers, DeeDee Robb and Willie Waltman, grandfathers, Speedy (Orville) Robb, Glen Stroup, and William Waltman, and many other family and friends.
Even in her last months, Anna never stopped thinking of others. She wanted to make sure her mother, husband, son, and grandchildren were cared for. In leu of flowers, donations can be made to Anna’s go fund me or to your local spay and neuter program.
