Barbara Jean Payton

Barbara Jean Payton, age 85, of Moberly, MO, went home to the Lord on August 20, 2022 at Meadow Ridge Senior Living.

Barb was born on May 12, 1937 in Moberly, MO to Walter Morton and Cora Stansel. Barb dedicated her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a member of Family Life Fellowship and enjoyed her time as a children’s ministry volunteer and sidewalk Sunday school leader.

Barb married Jerry Payton on June 27, 1954 in Moberly, MO. She enjoyed rocking babies, cooking, family, and anything chocolate. Her family will always remember her loving smile.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Cora Morton; husband, Jerry Payton; son, Kenneth Payton and son-in-law, Bill Fish.

Barb is survived by her three children, Debbie Fish of Huntsville, MO, Cathy (Wayne) Reed of Cabot, AR, Dave (Marsha) Payton of Huntsville, MO; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Cortney) Fish of Columbia, MO, Wallace Fish, Dylan and Justin Payton all of Huntsville, MO, Adam Reed and Aaron (LeeAnn) Reed of Cabot, AR; seven great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

A private graveside service celebrating Barbara’s life has been scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery, Moberly, MO.
