Betty V. Gillett, 93, of Moberly passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Moberly Regional Medical Center. Betty was born to Ellison Dean and Viola E. (Frobish) Leffler on November 20, 1920 in Iowa. She worked the lunch counter at Woolworths for 13 years, owned and operated The Coffee Cup and the Tasty Café in Moberly. She married Roy P. Gillett in 1974 and were married for 21 years before he preceded her in death in 1995. Betty loved coffee, bingo, refinishing furniture and antiquing. She was a former member of the Women’s Moose and American Legion as well as a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Betty had lived the past eight years in Pembroke Pines, FL before returning to the Moberly area. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladine Ripsch; son-in-law, Ronald D. Wood; and granddaughter, Terri K. Blickley John. Betty is survived by her daughters: Virginia Q. Skeados of Pembroke Pines, FL and Kay D. Wood of Moberly; step-son, Ronald S. Gillett and wife Charlotte of Moberly; brother, Ronald J. Leffler of Battle Creek, MI; grandchildren: Michael Wade, Thomas Skeados, Christopher Skeados, Tiffany Wood Kiehl, Tasha Wood Massen, Derek Wood, Elizabeth Gillett Nangle, and Brandon Gillett; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 1:00 p.m until service time at 3:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly with Pastor Jay Self officiating. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly under the direction of Million Taylor Funeral Homes. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Moberly Ladies Auxiliary VFW, 1347 S. Morley, Moberly, MO 65270.
