Marceline

Betty Jean Janney, age 92, of Salisbury, MO, went home to her Lord and her first love on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing, Marceline, MO.

Betty Jean was born on March 6, 1932, in Sedalia, MO, to Ray and Eva Belle (Crane) Bennett. She graduated from Hughesville High School in 1950. She worked at Sears in Moberly for 17 years, but her main job was taking care of her family. She was baptized as a teenager on September 24, 1944, in the Lamine River. She married Kenneth Mitchell Janney on September 1, 1950, in Sedalia, MO, after dating him since their freshman year in high school.

She enjoyed a good romance book, cooking, going to the boat, sitting in the sun at the lake and attending the numerous ball games, track meets and concerts of her precious grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her fierce devotion to her family, her love of Christmas, her favorite color red, and of course, the Chiefs. She was a dog whisperer, had an incredible green thumb, and her favorite phrase was “Ken Janney!” which he usually deserved.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Rush and Zella Janney; beloved husband, Ken; brothers, Ralph Bennett, Robert Bennett and Raymond Bennett; sisters, Ruth Benson and Ann Seymour; brothers-in-law, Andrew Droege and Neal Janney; and niece Neala Van Baale.

She is survived by her daughter, Terri Janney (Patti Brogden), of Garner, NC; daughter, Cathy (John) Fuemmeler, of Salisbury, MO; grandchildren, Kenya (Mike) Thompson, of Holts Summit, MO; Chelsea (Niclaus) Dykman, of Fort Myers, FL; Cole Fuemmeler, of Salisbury, MO; great grandchildren, Macklin and Rush Dykman; sister-in-law, Cody Droege, of Warrensburg, MO.

A graveside service celebrating Betty’s life will be scheduled in the Spring at LaMonte Cemetery in LaMonte, MO.

If desired, donations can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to the LaMonte Cemetery in Betty’s memory.
