Betty Jo Mauzey

Betty Jo Mauzey, 78, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away surrounded by family and went home to be with the lord on August 10, 2023, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.

Betty was born on September 5, 1944, to Andrew and Esther (Wingert) Wheeler in Moberly, Missouri.

She worked at Cardinal Health for more than fifteen years. Betty was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Betty married David Mauzey on February 26, 1966, in Moberly, Missouri.

She enjoyed square dancing, giving hugs (yellow rocks), gardening, fishing, camping, water skiing, traveling, mowing grass, being outside and watching the birds. She also enjoyed taking care of and loving her cat, Little Bit. When Betty was younger, she loved to go horseback riding. Most of all, Betty loved being with her family.

Her family will always remember her for her hugs, kind heart and for her ornery laugh.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Esther Wheeler; brothers, J.C. (Rosie) Wheeler, Andrew H. Wheeler Jr., Robert (Shirley) Wheeler and Dallas Wheeler; sisters, Allene Wheeler (Charlie) Johnston, Stella Wheeler and Marie Wheeler Powell.

Betty is survived by her husband, David Mauzey of Moberly, MO; son, Randy (Jeanette) Mauzey of Madison, MO; daughter, Sandra (David) Fox of Jacksonville, MO; grandchildren, Jordan Prewitt of Moberly, MO, Dakota (Liz) Mauzey of Cairo, MO and Brandy (Chris Garrett) Mauzey of Madison, MO; great-grandchildren, Laikynn Mauzey of Moberly, MO, Josephine Mauzey of Moberly, MO, Bethany Garrett of Madison, MO and Colten Garrett of Madison, MO; brothers, Dwight (Dorothy) Wheeler of Huntsville, MO and David (Sharon) Wheeler of West Plains, MO; sister, Martha Wheeler Ames of Huntsville, MO; sisters-in-law, Esther, Joanna and Nancy Wheeler; extended family and many close friends, Donald Chase and family, Paul and Sherry Chase and family, Steven Rowe and family.

A visitation celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
