Betty A. Meals

Betty Ann Meals, 95, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on May 21, 2024, at Monroe Manor in Paris, Missouri. 

Betty was born on July 17, 1928, in Evansville, Missouri to Mahlon and Nettie (Lepper) Powell. She graduated from Madison High School in 1945. 

Betty married Max Meals on January 20, 1946, in Randolph county. 

Betty was most passionate about being a mother and homemaker, raising her children and helping with grandchildren was the most important thing to her. She also enjoyed flower gardening, bowling and sewing. She was a seamstress at Nelly Don Dress Factory for many years. Her family and friends will always remember her kind heart and wonderful cooking, especially her pies.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Max Meals; daughter, Margaret Johnson; son, Harold Meals; granddaughter, Christy Lea Meals; parents, Mahlon and Nettie Powell; six sisters and five brothers.

Betty is survived by her son, Sam Meals of Independence, Missouri; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, Missouri, followed by interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Madison, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, Missouri.
