Calvin Ray Hull, age 75, of Moberly, MO, passed away surrounded by family on April 28, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Columbia, MO.

Calvin was born on August 29, 1947, in Fulton, MO to George Thomas Hull and Ethel Josephine (Clapper) Hull. He graduated from Moberly Area Community College in 1976 with a General Studies degree.

In 1965 he moved to Moberly, MO and accepted a position as a maintenance supervisor, at Moberly Housing Authority where he worked for more than 25 years where he then retired.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1965 until 1968 as a Sargent E5. Calvin then went onto the National Guard Reserves from 1968 until 1971. He was awarded the national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, two purple hearts, combat infantryman’s badge, two bronze star medals with V-Device, Vietnam campaign metal and a parachutist badge.

He was a member of the Moberly Independent Holiness Church and was a social, active man who was deeply involved with his church, family, and friends.

Calvin was a great dad, papa, and friend. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed taking his dog for a walk when it was warm outside, going to the back of the house to water his flowers and drink his coffee. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as all his extended family and close friends.

His family will always remember him and how much time he would spend with his dogs and planting flowers all around the house.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Thomas and Ethel Josephine Hull; daughter, Angie Hull; three brothers, Joe Hull, Cliff Hull and Paul Hull; two sisters, Carol Hendren and Delma Martin; great-grandson, Emerson Aleshire.

Calvin is survived by his children, Steven (Chonda) Hull, John Hull and Michelle (Joshua) Mathis all of Moberly, MO; grandchildren, Tiffany (Tyler) Lawson of Moberly, MO, Jennifer Hull of Moberly, MO, Sadie (Drake) Pagliai of Clearance, MO, Justin Aleshire of Moberly, MO, Ashley Aleshire of Moberly, MO, Nicole Prather of Cairo, MO, Zach Prather of Cairo, MO, Alex Prather of Cairo, MO, Tristan Brockman of Moberly, MO, Haile Hull of Moberly, MO, Allison Price of Columbia, MO, Haley Price of Columbia, MO, Caleb Smith of Cairo, MO and Alexis (Austin) Carlson of Higbee, MO; great-grandchildren, Adilynn Lawson, Gavin Lawson, Andrew Lawson, Parker Lawson all of Moberly, MO,  Laykin Pagliai and Landry Pagliai both of Clearance, MO, Eisaac Aleshire of Moberly, MO, and Kira Carlson of Higbee, MO; siblings, Phillip (Kathy) Hull, Ken (Medonna) Hull, and Dale (Sherrie Hutton) Hull all of Moberly, MO; extended family and many close friends.

A funeral service celebrating Calvin’s life has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Moberly Independent Holiness Church in Moberly, MO with full military honors and interment to follow at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. If desired, memorial contributions can be sent to the Moberly Independent Holiness Church, 349 Woodland Ave. Moberly, MO 65270 in honor of Calvin.
