Charles Burrell Riley, age 86, of Moberly, MO, passed away with family by his side on September 2, 2022, at Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia, MO.
C.B. was born on July 7, 1936, in Moberly, MO to Tomas C. Riley and Eva N. Roberts. He attended Moberly Senior High School. C.B. honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 as Corporal. He served in Korea for 16 months and ended his Army career at Fort Leonard Wood.
C.B. was a member of the North Park Baptist Church in Moberly, MO and later joined at Katy Park Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO he served as the Pastor at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was the Track Chaplin at Moberly Speedway. He married Georgia Ann McCormick on December 24, 1956, in Moberly, MO. C.B. was a huge fan of Cardinal Baseball, the KC Chiefs football franchise, MACC Greyhounds Basketball program and loved nothing more than watching his children and grandchildren play sports. His family will remember his witty comebacks, jokes and his love and knowledge of all things Cardinals baseball, his Irish temper, and his love for family. C.B. was looking forward to the new MACC Greyhound Baseball and Softball programs, and excited that his great-nephew, Chris Fletcher would be leading the baseball program as the Head Coach.
C.B. is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Georgia, his son, Greg, two brothers, Howard and Lester and one sister, Susie.
C.B. is survived by his son, Randy (Barb) Riley of Sedalia, MO, his daughters, Debbie Squires, and Pam (Scott) Breid of Green Ridge, MO, sister, Donna (Russell) Smashey of OH, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A funeral service celebrating C.B.’s life has been scheduled for September 15, 2022, at 12:30 pm at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel with a visitation from 11:00 am until time of service. Full military honors will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, MO immediately after the service.
