Charlie Joe Walters, 82, of Moberly passed away quietly November 24, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Tulip, MO on August 3, 1939 to Ottis Walters and Pearl Meyers Walters. Charlie grew up around the Monroe County area and attended school in Madison. He worked for several years as a backhoe operator for Machetta’s Tree Service and Excavating. After retiring, he took a part time job with Moberly Area Community College as a security guard.
In April of 1975 he married Sheila Gillispie and the two spent many wonderful years together.
Charlie loved to go to the races, liked playing rummy on the computer and enjoyed the times he could meet the fellows for coffee in the mornings at Hardee’s. He was laid back and easy going. He loved to talk to people and frequently ran in to people he knew, even when out of town. Family and friends will miss his ready smile and outgoing personality.
Those preceding Charlie in death are his parents; his brothers, Bill and Freddy Walters and sister, Anna Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sheila Walters of Moberly; his children, Chris (Heather) Walters of Moberly, Brandon Walters of Bonner Springs, KS, Michael Walters of Maine and Chuck Walters of Mexico, MO; grandchildren, Allison Guffey, Haylee Walters, both of Moberly, Christopher (Agusta) Walters of Valier, IL and Marli Walters of New London, MO; great grandchildren, Katyline Walters, Kyson Walters, Mckinley Walters, Christopher Walters, Jadin Walls, Waylon Walls and Cyndi; siblings, Lawrence (Lavella) Walters, Shirley Mills, Patsy Fox and Alice (Gene) Beal all of Moberly; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and many good friends.
A memorial visitation celebrating Charlie’s life will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
