Christopher “Chris” Thomas Bucksath, 85, of Moberly passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Chris was born to Christopher William and Margaret Theresa (McGee) Bucksath on September 5, 1929 in Dalton, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army where he was an engineer. Chris retired from the Army after 25 years of faithful service as a Command Sergeant Major. Chris played basketball in the military as well as for MU during his time there. He was an avid bowler and golfer and was The #1 Mizzou Tiger fan. Chris spent most of his days with friends and customers at the Victory Bar in which he was the owner for many years. He was a people person and enjoyed helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Jerry, Bill, Robert, and Richard Bucksath and his special friend, Marlene O’Brink. Survivors include his sons: Robert Joseph Bucksath and wife Baerbel of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mark Anthony Bucksath of Story, Wyoming, and Christopher Joseph Bucksath of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Kristen Weber and husband Richard of St. Maries, Idaho; brothers: John B. Bucksath and wife Dorothy of Slater, Missouri, and Joe B. Bucksath and wife Carol of New Mexico, sisters: Mary Bearden and husband LeRoy of Salisbury, Missouri, and Jane Grossman and husband Melvin of Gladstone, Missouri; grandchildren: Marc Bucksath, David B. Bucksath and wife Stephanie, John Heisel II and wife Clancy, Lauren Heisel, Jacob Heisel, Michael Weber, Tracie Weber, Paul George, Matthew George, Shelby Wilson, Marly Wilson, and Anna Graham; great grandchildren: Madeline Uhlik, Lilly Heisel, Kenley Heisel, Riley Heisel, Nash Christopher George and Charleigh George. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Pius Catholic Church, Moberly, Missouri. Inurnment will follow with Military Honors at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions go to either of Chris’s favorite charities: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
