Cilas E. Wamsley

January 3, 2020 — December 27, 2024

Moberly

Cilas Eugene Wamsley was born on Friday, January 3, 2020, at 1:23 p.m. to Cody Wamsley and Kayla Wester, becoming the little brother to Liam Wester. On Friday, December 27, 2024, at 4:21 a.m., Cilas joined our Heavenly Father.

Cilas was greatly loved by his large family including his paternal grandparents, Tony and Melissa Wamsley (Maw Maw and Papa); maternal grandmother, Sandy Dunbar (GiGi); aunts Taylor (Scott) Hess and Tara (Noah) Pitney; uncles Camron (Kayla) Wamsley and Neil Wester; close cousins Blake, Bentleigh, Colten, Novah, and Astara; and an abundance of extended family and dear friends.

Cilas was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Wester; Uncle Neil Wester; Great-Grandpa Jesse Wamsley; and Great-Grandpa Michael E. Richards.

From day one, Cilas proved to be the strongest little boy (our community's warrior), defying all odds and thriving. Cilas' greatness was matched with a Daddy who was his biggest advocate and a family willing to provide Cilas with the tools and navigation for a productive and wholesome life. Cilas' daddy brought him home with every determination to provide the life this beautiful little boy deserved. While met with challenges, Cody and Cilas succeeded and beat the odds in which doctors said would not happen. He was a true miracle and that was because he was loved by his daddy and loved ones more than life itself. Nonetheless, the one thing about Ci is that if you told him no, he would find every reason and means to do it anyway. He was a force to be reckoned with.

Cilas was never disabled, even though he navigated through cerebral palsy. He was differently abled and determined to find a way, matched with family who came to adjust for his inclusion. Cilas provided a new look on life to his cousins and all who knew and loved him. The family conditioned to diversity and adapted to the beauty that Cilas provided. They knew no other way of life. Cilas was all of their worlds. So much so, that if Daddy had to work and Maw Maw or Aunt Tay Tay weren't available, his Daddy would take him to work with him as his sidekick and would assign Camron or Noah the responsibility of entertaining Cilas while he worked.

On a typical day, you could find Cilas with Daddy, Maw Maw (his favorite person second to Daddy) or "big chillin" at his Aunt Tay Tay's. In Cilas' presence, you could expect to be met with smiles, clapping, whistling, dancing, leg kicking, more dancing, sign language, in-style appearance, and a handsome haircut. His daddy kept him fresh and loved to match his boy with plaid button ups. Cilas enjoyed climbing, especially on entertainment centers, to get as close to the TV as possible to watch Disney Plus or Netflix enjoying Trolls, Moana, Cars, and his most recent favorite - Shark Tale. The worm in the beginning could tickle his belly and send out a heartwarming giggle. His laugh was music to our ears. Cilas would dance when he heard music and made sure his Daddy swelled with pride. If Daddy was impressed, Cilas showed satisfaction with joyful claps and an adorable smile that lit up our world.

You could find him with his sippy full of CranGrape juice and constantly searching for adventure. He enjoyed sensory and could adequately and occasionally be fulfilled with a fidget spinner. But let us not forget how ornery he could be - wrapping himself up in Maw or Aunt Tay's hair and breaking all of his Daddy's TVs (literally).

While Cilas had obstacles, he didn't allow a single one to hold him back. Our miracle could walk without hand over hand assistance, climbed at a faster rate than one may walk, and constantly defied all odds. His strength, courage, determination, perseverance, and striving soul was unmatched.

Cilas will continue to be a beacon of light and love. He was full of life with his adventures that included swimming lessons, pre-school with ECLC, navigating with a body that struggled to be parallel with his mind, and cruising through Worlds of Fun this past summer. He was never held back. Cilas showed us all a new and improved way of life and how to be more compassionate, present, and patient. We're forever impacted by his life and his death.

A private celebration of life for Cilas E. Wamsley will be held at a later time.
