Dan Arnold, 81, of Macon, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 10, 1934, in Macon, MO to H.P. Arnold and Helen Hopper Arnold Vance. Dan graduated from Macon High School in 1952 and from the University of Missouri in 1956. On June 12, 1955, he married Iris Brammer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, MO. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 in San Francisco and France. Upon his return, he completed another two years in the Army Reserves. Dan and his wife, Iris, owned and operated Arnold Mobile Homes in Macon, MO for 20 years. In 1978, Dan and Iris became owners of the Macon Drive-In Theater and proudly served Macon until its closing in 2004. Dan was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Macon and was a wonderful father, grandfather, and a devoted husband.
His parents preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Iris; his children, Michael (Dina) Arnold and Susan Arnold Burden (Don Baum) all of Macon, MO; grandchildren, Shelby Arnold of Kansas City, MO, Lauren Arnold, Blake Burden, and Alex Burden all of Macon, MO; sister, Nancy Arnold Teter of Macon, MO; niece, Stacy Threlkeld of Huntsville, MO; and cousin Henry Bower of Macon, MO.
A memorial service celebrating Dan’s life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, MO at 11:00 a.m. with a private burial to be held at a later time. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
