Darrell Gene Varnold entered this world January 7, 1957 to Robert and Patricia Varnold and big brother Bob. He was born in Keokuk, Iowa where he later got a little brother, Curtis.
Darrell grew up and attended school in Keokuk where he played football and was the fastest runner on the track team. He graduated High School in 1975 and attended Gem City Community College in Quincy, Illinois where he earned a degree in Accounting in 1981.
Darrell married Reta Everman and had two daughters, Ashley and Sara. The pair divorced and Darrell married Kelly Roller in 1993, inheriting two daughters, Amber and Lacy. He has one son, Dakota, who has always been his sidekick.
Darrell served as a member of the Madison C-3 School Board while his children attended school there. He worked for Dura Automotive for 28 years until recently when they closed their doors and he hired on with Orscheln Products. Darrell was well-liked among his peers and made many good work friends over the years.
Darrell was a member of the Sweet Springs Baptist Church in Huntsville, MO and if you didn’t find him there you could find him at his other favorite places-the beach or out back in his pool.
Darrell entered the gates of Heaven at about 8:00pm on November 19th surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert and half-brother, Bill.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly, and his son Dakota of the home, 4 daughters-Ashley and Sara Varnold of Sedalia, MO, Amber (Ray) Turpin of Knob Noster, MO, and Lacy (Shawn) McCormick of Moberly, MO, He is also survived by five grand-children, Kylee Bourgeois of Moberly, MO, Emmalee Killion of Columbia, MO, Nathaniel and Hadley Turpin of Knob Noser, MO, and Landon Varnold of Sedalia, MO, Additionally, Darrell is survived by his mother Patricia Varnold of Moberly, MO, brother Bob (Robyn) Varnold of California, brother Curtis (Carla) Varnold of Colorado and many extended family members, friends and neighbors.
Darrell was a kind man who loved all and will be missed by many!
A memorial service celebrating Darrell’s life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sweet Springs Baptist Church, 1027 County Road 2445, Huntsville, MO 65259.
