David T. Magruder

David Terrill Magruder, 83, of Moberly, went home to the Lord on February 9, 2024, at Ravenwood Terrace.

David was born on March 13, 1940, in Higbee, Missouri to David Thomas and Ruby Frances Magruder. He graduated from Higbee High School, then attended Kansas City Junior College and later attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 1963 to 1967. 

David Magruder and Tanya McCormick were married on October 10, 2000, in Moberly, Missouri.

David honorably served his county in the United Stated Navy submarine service from 1958 to 1962 and was involved in the Cuba blockade during 1962. 

He went on to become a flight instructor and corporate aircraft pilot in Kansas City, Missouri. He then served as a pilot for 10 years at Shelter Insurance Company in Columbia, Missouri. In 1980, David then transitioned to financial advisor with Edward Jones and retired after 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Tanya Magruder and his parents, David and Ruby Magruder.

David is survived by his children, Michael (Teresa) Magruder of Columbia, MO, Christopher (Dilenny) Magruder of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Paula (Andrew) Crowe of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Maddie Magruder, Emily Magruder, Brendan Crowe and Ian Crowe; siblings, Ronald Magruder of Moberly, MO and Martha Zambile of Columbia, MO; extended family and friends.

Full mass will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly, MO. A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the mass. Interment will take place at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Mid Missouri Honor Flight or to the St. Pius X school in honor of David.
