David William Rasmussen, 82, of Cairo passed away May 7, 2016 at his home. David was born to Jens Rasmussen and Elise Brethorst Rasmussen on March 21, 1934 in Iroquois County, IL.
On September 3, 1960 he wed Marilyn Berg in Belvidere, IL. The couple has made the Randolph County community their home for the last 45 years. David enjoyed working and he was crazy about his family. He really enjoyed having his kids and grandkids visit and putting them to work, too. One of his favorite pastimes was stopping at the local café in Cairo for breakfast, talking to friends and solving the world’s problems.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, a brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, his children; David Walter Rasmussen and wife Marla of Huntsville, MO, Dan Rasmussen of Cairo, MO, Dawn Utz and husband Al of Phoenix, AZ, Diana Rasmussen and husband Kent Ediger of O’Fallon, MO, Darcy Rasmussen and husband Darren Roubinek of Merriam, KS and Dale Ann Corder and husband Andy of St. Charles, MO, sister; Donna Lawrence of Lake in the Hills, IL; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; extended family and friends.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the Route Z Country Barn and Grill in Cairo, MO. Memorial contributions in David’s honor are appreciated to the Office of Development for Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
