Deanna Hedrick

Deanna (Pickett) Hedrick, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. 

Deanna was born in Hannibal, MO on August 4, 1940, to Cecil and Ethel (Calhoon) Pickett. She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1958 where she was active in 4H and the Future Farmers of America. She was an exemplary student and was inducted into the Palmyra High School academic hall of fame. 

At the urging of a friend, she reluctantly agreed to meet the man who would become the love of her life. On December 27, 1961, she married Roy Hedrick, and they were happily married for 26 years until his death in 1988. They moved to Moberly in 1970 where they raised their family and she remained until her death. 

Deanna was a creative spirit whose reserved and humble personality masked her incredible artistic talent. She enjoyed working with her hands, excelling at free hand drawing and oil painting and was equally skilled with needle and thread, often creating handmade pieces to gift to family and friends. She could often be found tending to her plants on the sunporch or in her garden. In her downtime, she was a voracious reader finishing multiple books over the course of a few weeks and was a constant support for her kids, never missing their activities or games. 

Deanna dedicated over 30 years to the Moberly School District, working in schools and the Central Office as a secretary and administrative support to the Superintendent of Schools. 

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her three children, Tim Hedrick and wife Jill of Columbia, Amy Marquez of Horn Lake, MS, Pat Hedrick and wife Stacie of Arvada, CO; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Marquez and fiancé Jacob Hawkins, Brandon Hedrick and girlfriend Luci Kay, Jacob Hedrick and girlfriend Destiny Dollinger, and Colin Hedrick and girlfriend Arika Price; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. 

Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy; her brother Richard Pickett; and her sister Darlene Griffith. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel with a visitation being held from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Following the services Deanna will be laid to rest next to her husband Roy in Oakland Cemetery.
