Donald Lee Avery

Donald Lee Avery, 76, of Hallsville, Missouri, went to be with his wife in the Lord’s kingdom on May 24, 2023, at Fulton Manor.

Donald was born on February 5, 1947, in Moberly, Missouri, to Virgil and Dorothy (Herron) Avery.

He graduated from Moberly High School and from Tour Cross Country School with a degree in Commercial Driving. He moved to Columbia, MO and accepted a position as a bus driver for the City of Columbia where he worked for several years.

He married Goldie Mae McDonald in 1998 in Las Vegas, NV.

Don enjoyed ceramics, bingo, chess, coins and art. His family and friends will always remember him as being soft-spoken, knowledgeable about coins, kindhearted and always had so many great stories to share.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Avery; sister, Dorothy Neece and parents, Virgil and Dorothy (Herron) Avery.

Don is survived by his children, Scott Avery of Moberly, MO, Marilyn Hoover of Hallsville, MO and Richard Macomber Jr. Mexico, MO; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; extended family and many close friends such as Nancy Bias, John Darby and Ed Vollmer.

A funeral service celebrating Don’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO followed by interment at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Moberly, MO. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
