Donald Gene Gordy, 74, of Moberly, passed away June 5, 2018 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO. Donald was born April 13, 1944 in Moberly, MO to Victor Earl Gordy and Alma Louise Stoneking Gordy. He was a lifelong resident of Moberly, and a graduate of Moberly High School and MACC. He was united in marriage in 1972 in Oklahoma to Joyce Ann Green. Donald honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as a radio controller during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the states, he began his engineering career working at both Orscheln and Dura Automotive Systems. He had developed and had obtained patents for six automotive parts. He and Joyce worked together cultivating beautiful flowers and remodeling homes. Donald also enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Donald leaves behind his wife, Joyce of Moberly; his mother, Alma Louise Gordy of Moberly; a son, Anthony “Shawn” Gordy of Huntsville; granddaughter, Destiny Gordy of Huntsville; brothers, Carl (Lori) Gordy of Moberly, Mike (Vicki) Gordy of Texas, Gerald (Pam) Gordy of Florida, Earl Dean (Dee) Gordy of Kentucky, Jerry Gordy (significant other Karen) of Wyoming; extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 15, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly. Inurnment with full military honors will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
