Dorothy Jean Thelander, 85, of Moberly, passed away March 27, 2016 at the University of Missouri Hospital with family beside her.
Dorothy was born February 15, 1931 in Crane, MO to William Rose Brown and Mary Ryan Brown. She was married to Charley Benjamin Coin and they shared 48 years together. After his passing, she married Richard Thelander and he also preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded by six brothers, five sisters, and two great-great grandchildren.
Those surviving Dorothy are her children, Judy Kern (Phillip) of Grandview, MO, Charlene Sneed (Thomas) of Macon, MO, Janice Fox of Galena, MO, Mary Keown of Independence, MO and Jim Coin of the state of Wisconsin, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorothy worked as a commercial seamstress before retirement. She especially liked attending Family Life Fellowship Church in Moberly with her granddaughter Paula Washam, who was her caretaker after she moved to Moberly. She enjoyed sewing, doing needlework, growing flowers and shopping. She loved being with her grandbabies.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly, MO. A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7000 Albert Lea, MN 56007-8001.
