Duane Hudson

Duane was born 2-21-1927 in Fenton Township near Erie, IL. He attended a one room school house grades 1-8, graduated from Erie High School, and subsequently worked for Whiteside County, IL as a dairy technician. Duane served his country in the US army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. On 6-17-1950, he married Arlene Jaecques in Geneseo, IL. They farmed in Illinois, moved to a farm near Salisbury, MO in 1955, and settled on their present farm east of Moberly, in 1958. In farming, Duane was a steward of the land with ultimate respect for mother earth. He could raise crops, fix fences, and care for livestock as easily as he could ride his ATV with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a farmer, Duane was one of the fortunate few who retained a lifelong passion for his work. A man of few words, but much wisdom, he lived his life with the strongest of character and morals. His work ethic was unsurpassed. No man will ever be held higher in our hearts. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Freida (Geerts), and brother Leroy. He is survived by his wife Arlene of the home, sons Allen of Moberly, David (Kathy) of Stilwell, KS, Bryan (Schila) of Moberly, sister-in-law, Mary, brother Neal (Bonnie), brothers-in-law Richard Jaecques, Gene Jaecques, Bob (Carol) Jaecques, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Duane passed away on Saturday March 25 at Monroe Manor in Paris MO. He will be cremated and laid to rest at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arlene and the family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to ALL of the people at Moberly Regional Medical Center, Monroe Manor and Preferred Hospice who provided excellent care and unwavering love to Duane and the family over the last months of his life. Be kind to all around you for Duane and help those in need. Cherish those memories and blessings of the good times. Spend time with your family and friends as this will continue to remind us that our time here is fleeting and it is the human connection of love, friendship, and faith in God that makes life worth living.
