Edith Catherine Eisenstein

Edith C. (Dennis) Eisenstein, 94, of Moberly passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Macon Healthcare Center in Macon. Born on February 17, 1920 in rural Randolph County, she was the daughter of Thomas Samuel and Ethel (Ferguson) Dennis. On June 21, 1942 she was married to Albert Sterling Eisenstein who in 1953 preceded her in death. Others preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her sister, Mildred Dennis Miller; and her brothers: Ward A. Dennis, Dr. Willard Guy Dennis, James Noel Dennis, and Dr. Elbert L. Dennis; nephew, David Ernest Dennis. Edith is survived by daughter, Jane Catherine Eisenstein of Philadelphia, PA; son, Eric Leo Eisenstein and wife Barbara of Durham, NC; grandson, David Milan Eisenstein of Richmond Heights, OH; several nieces and nephews. Edith earned her Bachelor and Master Degrees in education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Over a period of 31 years she taught home economics in Lafayette, Randolph, and St. Charles Counties. An additional year she served as staff member at Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman University. Memberships in honorary educational organizations, Phi Lamda Theta and Delta Kappa Gamma, were attained, along with professional memberships in American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences; NEA, MNEA, and MNNA retired; and Randolph County Retired Teachers Association. She held a membership in the Randolph County Historical Society. A visitation will take place on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 1:00 p.m until 3:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m at Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, MO with Rev. Wally Landrum officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Coates Street Presbyterian Church or American Heart Association.
