Edward Gene Orscheln, 92, passed away January 8, 2018 at North Delta Hospice House in Southaven, MS. He was born May 6, 1925 in Sturgeon, Missouri. He leaves his wife of 70 years, Norma Jean of Horn Lake, MS; one son, Gary (Sheryl) Orscheln of Columbia, MO; two daughters: Angeline (Terry) Calvert of Horn Lake, MS and Linda (JC) Willingham of Willard, MO; 5 grandsons: Eric (Belle) Orscheln, Sean (Rhonda) Calvert, Brent (Stacy) Calvert, Christian (Christina) Willingham, and Brian (Alfonso) Willingham; 3 granddaughters: Emily (Dustin) Rowland, Shannon (Curt) Mayo and Callie (Jerry) Presley; Jennifer, widow of Karl Orscheln; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Gene was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 70 years. He joined the U.S. Navy after his junior year in high school. Gene was Seaman First Class, serving in WWII from 1943-1946. The family business was Orscheln Brothers Truck Lines. Gene began working for the Truck Line at the age of 12 and continued working in the family business until he retired as the president. A memorial visitation celebrating Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Final commendation will take place at 12:00 noon followed by inurnment with full military honors at St. Mary’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital c/o Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
