Elder Viola Roberts, 88, of Moberly, MO, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 12, 2020 at Samaritan Memorial Hospital in Macon.
Elder was born October 23, 1931 in Higbee, MO to James W. Sumpter and Mary B. Owens Sumpter. She graduated from Higbee High School in 1949 and later moved to Huntsville, MO. She accepted a position as a CNA at Woodland Hospital in Moberly where she worked for many years. She later worked as a private CNA for many prominent families in the Moberly area.
Elder was a member of the Huntsville First Baptist Church. She was a perfect, loving mother in every way to both of her daughters and a very “accommodating” wife of her children’s fathers’ hobbies.
Later in life, on May 25, 2001 in Moberly, MO, she married Larrie Roberts. She belonged to the Moose Lodge in Moberly and enjoyed dancing, crocheting, reading her Bible on a daily basis and attending to her beautiful yard full of flowers.
She will always be remembered as a sweet lady who loved her grandchildren immensely.
Elder is survived by her loving husband, Larrie Roberts, Moberly; daughters; Juliana Briscoe and husband Earnie, Moberly and Laura Leah Haffecke and Husband Will of Walnut Shade, MO; grandchildren, Alisha Moberly and husband Steve of Kansas City, MO, Amanda Keeler and husband Derek of Whitehouse, TN, Bryce Lee Haffecke and Brandie of Branson, MO, four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating the life of Elder Roberts will be held Monday, March 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home with private entombment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
