On Sunday, June 9, 2019, Elsa Ann Creed, 76, of the Cairo and Jacksonville communities, passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Elsa was born May 29, 1943 in Ray County, MO to Melvin and Violet (Peacock) Dishman. On February 1, 1963, she married Gerald Allen Creed in her hometown of Lexington, MO. They raised two sons, Rusty and Rodney, and a daughter, Christina.
Elsa was passionate about her children and grandchildren and spending time with them. Seeing their individual accomplishments and talents was always a great source of pride and joy for her, and her moral guidance of them was always appreciated. She very much cherished extended family gatherings and always made sure there was enough food for all.
Elsa also relished games of chance, card games and rummage sales. She traveled often to Las Vegas with friends, and there hasn’t been a bingo hall in mid-Missouri that didn’t know her face. She was quick to bring a smile to anyone by sharing a humorous story, and was very loyal to her family and friends. Her compassionate spirit dwells on in the hearts of those who knew her, and she will be missed greatly.
Elsa was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Jerry, her three children and their spouses, Rusty (Lynnette Lenzini) of Holts Summit, MO, Rodney (Jill Whitehead) of Jacksonville, and Christina (Chuck Bankhead) of Higbee, her grandchildren Heather, Kelsey, Christian, Bridger, Cody and Kennedy, a great-grandchild, Erin, her brother Mickey Dishman, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cairo Christian Church, with services to follow at 3 p.m. Inurnment will be in the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
In memory of Elsa and in lieu of flowers, please consider a monetary or blood donation to the American Red Cross.
