Emma Joan Dougherty

Emma Joan Dougherty, 81, of Clark, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Joan was born March 22, 1938, in Clark, Missouri, to Mike and Emma Ridgeway. Joan and Jerry Martin Dougherty were married on March 16, 1972. She worked outside the home for State Farm Insurance, Columbia Missouri, for many years before staying at home to raise her three children. She enjoyed drinking coffee (at all hours of the day and night), reading, gardening, watching hummingbirds, and laughing at Jerry and the kids (and later the grandchildren) with all of their animals. She and Jerry enjoyed attending the grandchildren's basketball, baseball and soccer games over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; grandson, Joseph Dougherty; father, Mike; mother, Emma; brothers: Hugh Ridgeway (Mickey) and Kenneth Ridgway (Billie); and sister, Tresa Carpenter (Garrett). Survivors include sons: Mike (Brenda Armstrong) Dougherty of Moberly, Missouri along with children: Ally Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, and Emily Armstrong, and Jamie (Heather) Dougherty of Clark, Missouri, along with their children: Brooklyn, Jackson, Johnathon, Mallorie, and Jameson Dougherty; daughter, Melissa (Rodney) Boots of Moberly, Missouri, along with their children: Hunter and Emma Boots; sister-in-law, Janet Myers (Richard) of Higbee, Missouri; as well as nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m.at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Robb officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Million Taylor Funeral Homes. Donations to the Clark Christian Church.
