Eric David Flood

Eric David Flood, 54, of Middle Grove, MO, passed away surrounded by family on May 15, 2022. 

Eric was born on July 27, 1967, in Springfield, MO, to Dave and Becky Flood (Thomas).  He graduated from Moberly High School in 1985 and from the Electronics Institute in 1988 with a degree in Informational Technology.  He has been employed by Westran School District for more than 15 years as the IT Coordinator. 

Eric was in love with Jesus and enjoyed fellowship with different people from many area churches. For the past 5 years, he has been attending Pleasant Green Baptist Church outside of Madison, MO.  Eric was a faithful husband to Cecilia (Paulus) for the past 14 years, a loving father to his children, Papa Rock to his grandchildren, and was looked up to as a father-figure and mentor by many.

You could find Eric constantly loving on and welcoming friends and family into his home, hosting or contributing to many community events, family dinners, or parties. He took great pride in being a Papa & nicknamed himself the “brick wall” because he could never tell them no. His spontaneous attitude has inspired many people and made for many memories; he was a constant encouraging force for his children and friends, and was very influential in his speech.  Eric enjoyed music and had a passion for cooking and bar-b-que which led to the start of Papa Rock BBQ & Catering.  He was enthusiastic to try new things, enjoyed playing computer games, designing items with his 3-D printer, and was always up for a great fireworks &/or pyrotechnic display. 

Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Flood, his first wife of 9 years, Kittie Flood, his aunt Carol McSwain and uncle Phil Thomas. 

Eric is survived by his wife Cecilia Flood, his father Dave Flood, his children: Camren Miller, Adam Miller, Lukas Miller (Veronica), Camille Schumann (Mitch), Jacob Flood (Paige), Emma Steward (Jacob Elliot fiance), Gavin Steward, and Keegan Steward; grandchildren: Rosalie, Ellie, Colter (expected in August) Schumann and Dexter Miller; two brothers, Nick & Andee Flood (Josie & Creed) Marcus & Karie Flood (Sydney & Gabe), extended family including the McSwains, O’Donnells, Joe Thomas, and many, many close friends.  

A Funeral service celebrating Eric's life has been scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly with interment to follow at Middle Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Middle Grove, MO. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
