Ernest Arthur Carter, 88, of Moberly, Mo passed away on January 29, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 12, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Arthur H. and Kathryn E. (Forman) Carter.
Ernest was a resident of Moberly for the past 11 years. He worked as an electrician for General Motors for 26 years. Ernest was a member of the Eagle Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a youth and Wayne Masonic Lodge #112 in Westland, MI. He also served in the Michigan National Guard.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Patti Holm and Cynthia Okray; sister, Evangeline Rodriguez and brother, Daniel Carter.
Survivors include, daughter, Deborah Kent of Moberly; son, Ernest Carter Jr. of Michigan; brothers, Robert Carter of Wixom, MI and Arthur Carter of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Family would like to acknowledge and offer a special thanks to Joyce Kinsler, Ernest’s caregiver and friend for the past 11 years, and mother of two of Ernest’s children. Also, to Compassus Hospice Care of Macon, MO for their gentle care and guidance for the past three months.
A private family memorial service will be held in March.
