Ernest Hayes

Ernest P. “Sonny” Hayes, age 76, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Cabot Emergency Hospital.

Ernest was born November 7, 1945, to Dub and Jane Hayes in Kansas City, Kansas.

Ernest honorably served his Country in the United States Army from 1963 until 1973 as Staff Sergeant member of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles.

On October 10, 2020, Ernest married his wife, Sharon Rogers.  His family and friends will always remember him as being a Level III Curmudgeon and was incorrigible but was dearly loved by all who knew him.

Ernie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Sharon of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, his father Dub Hayes of Keyetsville, Missouri, his two children, Lyndon Miller (Sheila) of London, Ohio and Theresa Kirchinger of Brewer, Maine, two stepsons, Corbett Calhoun (Maggie) of Tuckerman, Arkansas, and Kevin Calhoun (Andrea) Cole Camp, Missouri, four grandchildren, Katy Gakunju (Shem) of Westerville, Ohio, Rosanna Waweru (Sammy) and Lance Miller of London, Ohio, and Brittany Perry (Brett) of Springfield, Missouri; four step grandchildren, Ashton Calhoun and Kendall Kenner (Jessie) of Searcy, Arkansas, Sarah Calhoun of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, and Kaden Calhoun of Cole Camp, Missouri. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ernest is preceded in death by his mother Jane, stepmother Maggie, and his brother Charles Hayes.

A memorial service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, Missouri with full military honors to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Armstrong, Missouri. Visitation will be held on March 4, 2022, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
