Esther Bishop

Esther Levita Bishop, 78, of Moberly, MO. Passed away June 26th, 2019 at Moberly Nursing and Rehab. She was born November 28th, 1940 in Moberly, MO. to Charles Guthrie and Sophia (Lewis) Guthrie. Esther was a resident of Moberly for most of her life. On April 22, 1961 she married James H. Drewery and of that union they were blessed with five children; Jim, Charles, Ken, Dennis and Denise. They later separated. In October of 1988 she married Leslie Vernon Bishop. Esther was a beloved cook for the Moberly school district for 16 years. Cooking was a true joy for Esther. Prior to that, she was the head custodial supervisor in the Columbia Mall Café Court for 8 years. She loved spending time with her family over anything else, she was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her tender love and care will be greatly missed. Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Sophia Guthrie; her first husband, James Drewery; two sisters, Geraldine Sumpter and Margueritte Sumpter; two brothers, Oren and Charles Guthrie; and grandson, Samuel Drewery. Survivors include her children, Jim (Joan) Drewery of Moberly, MO, Charles (Amelia) Drewery of Moberly, MO, Ken (Teresa Griffin) Drewery of Dayton, TX, Dennis Drewery and Denise (Barry) Broemer all of Moberly, MO; sixteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; siblings, Howard Guthrie of Moberly, MO, Goldie Hunter of Moberly, MO and Tammy (Gene) Stahnke of Macon, MO; sister in law, Linda Guthrie of Rogers, AR; several nieces and nephews; extended family and close friends. A memorial service celebrating Esther’s life will be held Friday, July 5th, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5th, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until time of service.
