Eunice I. Grimsley

Eunice Irene (Stewart) Grimsley, 93, went to be with the Lord on Sunday,, June 28, 2015 at Moberly Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Eunice was born one of ten children in Hernshaw, West Virginia on November 6, 1921 to Benjamin F. and Ida (Griffith) Stewart. Eunice married Edgar M. Grimsley on November 7, 1942 in Bainbridge, Maryland and moved to Yates Missouri after Edgar was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in World War II. Edgar farmed and worked a public job and Eunice was a homemaker. Edgar preceded her in death on October 12, 2009. Eunice was known by many and loved by all. Eunice's family was her life and she endured much hardship to protect and nurture them. She lived through the Great Depression and truly understood all people and struggles of life. Eunice was a member of Higbee Baptist Church. Eunice and Edgar were parents of eight children: Shirley (Raymond) Ruch, Edgar E. Grimsley, Linda Rogers, Paul Grimsley, Robert (Melinda) Grimsley, Regina (Danny) Brown, Timothy (Tammy) Grimsley, and Tamera (Matthew) Wilcoxson; thirteen grandchildren: Jeffrey (Andrea) Simons, Jason (Stacy) Simons, Jarrod Simons, Keven Rogers, Michael (Marla) Rogers, Lisa (Billy) Price, Michelle (Kent) Andrews, Melissa (Chris) Colley, Aaron Brown, Jonathan (Tabitha) Grimsley, Hannah Grimsley, Brandon Grimsley, and Kayla Wilcoxson; nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Eunice is also survived by three sisters of Charleston, West Virginia: Jewel Asbury, Mary Hagar, and Patsy (Paul-Jack) Midkiff. Eunice was also preceded in death by five brothers, Woodrow, Hershel, Edward, Samuel, JR Stewart, one sister, Alice Zahn, sister-in-law Maxine Stinnett, brother-in-law, Ray Stinnett, nephew, Mike Stinnett and son-in-law, Donald Wayne Rogers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Higbee with Rev. Gardell Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Higbee City Cemetery. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Higbee Senior Center.
