Gary Wayne Barr, age 60, of Renick, MO passed away surrounded by the caring staff of Heritage Hall Skilled Nursing in Centralia, MO on February 11, 2023. Gary was born on May 31, 1962, in Danville, KY to Raymond and Bernice Barr.
Gary attended school in Steger, IL. In 1999, he relocated to Moberly, MO with his then wife, Cheryl, and their son, Josh. Gary worked at Orscheln Distribution, (formerly Retail Support Center) before he joined DSV, both in Moberly, MO. Gary married Sharon Kendall on May 9, 2017, in Huntsville, MO.
Gary enjoyed watching Chicago Bears football, Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cub baseball, when forced, he became an Iowa Hawkeyes fan by marriage. Gary loved playing horseshoes, corn hole, shooting pool and working outside in the yard. He loved his motorcycle and especially his Chevy Silverado truck. Gary was known to also enjoy Miller Lite and Fireball while relaxing at home with his wife and pets, whom he dearly loved. His DSV work family will always remember him as “Superstar Barr”!
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Bernice Barr of Manchester TN; brother, Kenneth L. Barr, Steger, IL and St. John, IN; his pets, who he loved, Copper, Kaleb, Sammi, Oreo, Tux, Callie, Abbie, Hayden, Gretchen and Rocky and they are eagerly waiting for him to join them.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Barr, of Renick, MO; sons, Gary W. Barr II, Nashville, TN, Joshuah L. (Mandi) Barr, Lowell, IN; stepdaughter, Jill (Mike Vanwinkle) Wood, North Liberty, IA; stepson, Justin (Ellie Smith, Fiance) Wood, North Liberty, IA; grandson, Blake L. Barr, Lowell, IN; 5 step-grandchildren in North Liberty, IA; sisters, Darlene Lumbley (Herman Lewis), Wanda (Mike) Spivey, Manchester, TN; brothers, Dale Barr, Manchester, TN, Will (Reggie) Barr, Steger, IL, Roger (Sabena) Barr, Manchester, TN, and Danny (Diane) Barr. Gary cherished his numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary loved his “4-legged kids” dearly…Sadie, Josie, Bella, Chloe, and Adrian; all of whom brought great joy to him and miss him terribly.
A celebration of Gary’s life has been scheduled for Friday, February 17, 2023, at 5:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel prior to the brief service.
