Gary Duane Campbell, 77, of rural Moberly, died in his home Sunday morning in his sleep. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Million Taylor Funeral Homes in Moberly, Mo. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Million Taylor Funeral Homes with Pastor Richard Clouse officiating. The family asks that any memorial gifts be given to the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief programs. He was born Sept. 5, 1937, to Wendell and Louise Campbell in Hartford, Iowa. He graduated from Clifton High School, Clifton Hill, Mo., in 1955. He attended Kansas City Business College in Kansas City, Mo. He married Eleanor Jane Campbell on Nov. 27, 1958, in Moberly, Mo. Gary worked for various companies in construction and sales. He retired from active sales for Auto Club of America in 2008. For several years, he operated his own business providing portable toilet services to area fairs and events. He and his wife, Jane, are members of Carpenter Street Baptist Church in Moberly, Mo. They have been heavily involved in lay service to various Southern Baptist churches in various communities where they lived. They were charter members of and helped establish Red Bridge Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo., and Renick Community Church in Renick, Mo. He was very involved in the construction of the current Renick Community Church building. For most of his adult life, he was involved in and participated in the leadership of the Royal Ambassador and Baptist Men groups in many of the churches where they attended. He participated in the Missouri Baptist Convention Disaster Relief program for several years. During that service, he was part of teams that provided disaster relief services to many communities in need after disaster events such as hurricanes, floods and ice storms, including New York City after the 9/11 attack and New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Gary is survived by his wife, Jane; his brothers, William Campbell and his wife, Kay, of Huntsville, Mo., Richard Campbell, and his wife, Kathryn, of Hallsville, Mo., John Campbell and his wife, Donna, of Higginsville, Mo.; his sister, Bonnie Durk and her husband, Floyd, of Centralia, Mo.; his son, Tim Campbell and his wife, Roxie, of Columbia, Mo.; his daughter, Lynn Campbell-Robinson and her husband, Gerald, of St. Louis, Mo.; his grandchildren, Samuel Bushmeyer of Springfield, Il., Rebecca Sutton of Hannibal, Mo., and Jabez Campbell of Columbia, Mo.; his sister-in-law, Mary Kilgore, and her husband, Jerold, of Phoenix, Az., his brother-in-law, Ben Hardin, and his wife, Jane, of Peoria, Il.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Marilyn Patterson and her husband, Ed, of Hartford, Ia., and his sister, Patricia McGuire, of Hondo, Tx.
