Gary Wayne Evans

November 9, 1966 — October 28, 2021

Gary Wayne Evans, 54, of Jacksonville, Mo, passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2021 at his home surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Gary was born on November 9th, 1966 to Russell and Joan (Teter) Evans at the Woodland Hospital and Clinic in Moberly, Mo.

Gary grew up in Jacksonville, Mo and that is where he stayed for the remainder of his life. This is where he met his wife of 30 years, Tammy. They were married on April 13th 1991. Jacksonville is also where they chose to raise their 4 children, Jonathan, Lindsey, Katelain, and Jordon. All of which he was so proud of and loved very much.

Gary was a very hard-working, dedicated, and selfless man. He began working at Everlast in 2003 and enjoyed the last 18 years there. He started out as an inventory clerk and could often be found playing tricks on his boss and co-workers. In more recent years, Gary became a receiving supervisor. Along with a busy work schedule he also volunteered his time for the last 23 years on the Northeast RIV(Cairo/Jacksonville) Fire Department and was also on the Safety Crew for the Moberly 24 Raceway for 15 plus years. Both of which he enjoyed very much.

Gary loved to have a good time no matter what he was doing. He could always be found outdoors deer and turkey hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, arrowhead hunting, taking photos on his camera, watching his favorite sports such as football and Nascar, spending time with his friends and family. Gary could really tear it up on the dance floor to any song but especially to Footloose.

Gary is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, (Teter); paternal grandparents, (Evans); parents, Russell and Joan Evans; mother-in-law, Betty Perkins and brother-in-law, Roy Mozingo.

Survivors include wife, Tammy Evans of Jacksonville; four children, Jonathan Evans of Moberly, Lindsey (Allyiah) Witmer of Moberly, Katelain (Ryan) Ford of Cairo and Jordon Evans of Moberly; grandson, Rowen Ford; niece, Autumn Perkins; four siblings, Debbie (Larry) Terry, Kathy Mozingo, Doug (Debbie) Evans and Lisa (David) Burton; father-in-law, Clifford Perkins; brothers-in-law, Sam (Angela) Perkins and Randy Perkins; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; hundreds of “adopted” kids and grandkids; several extended family members and friends.
