Gerald A. Maupin, Sr., 80, of Higbee passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation in Moberly. Gerald was born to John and Opal (Holohan) Maupin on April 8, 1934 in Moberly, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until 1956. In 1957 he married Betty Hall. After 35 years of service, he retired from Orscheln Company where he worked as a supervisor. Gerald farmed all his life and raised cattle. He was known for making creations out of horseshoes. He loved his faithful dog, Beans and enjoyed deer hunting. Gerald was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul, and sister, Bonnie. Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Maupin of Higbee, son, Allen Maupin and wife Sarah of Higbee; daughters: Lori Maupin of Higbee, Joyce Milnes and husband Jerry of Moberly; sister, Beverly Brown and husband Terry of Auburn, IL; grandchildren: Levi Maupin and wife Laura, Seton Thornhill; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 3:00 p.m until 6:00 p.m at the Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m in the Chapel of the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
