Geraldine (Gerry) Cooper-Herider

June 12, 1938 — November 18, 2024

Moberly

Geraldine Marie (Cooper) Herider went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 18, 2024, at University Hospital in Columbia, with family by her side.

Gerry lived in Moberly her entire life. She was born to a wonderful and loving mother, Gladys Marie Farris. She was so blessed to have a loving stepfather, Cova Lee Farris.

Most people will remember Gerry from her vast number of years working at City Bank & Trust Company in Moberly. She loved her career there and mostly loved “her customers”.

Her family and friends all agree that Gerry loved the Lord, loved her family, loved her friends and would do anything she could for any of them. She was an avid Cardinal baseball fan, loved going to rummage sales and flea markets, going to Amish country with her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter on an “afternoon outing” and enjoyed the travel she got to experience. She even learned to play golf with her husband at 80 years of age!

Gerry was a member of Carpenter Street Baptist Church in Moberly, attending there for over 75 years. She was active over the years with her church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, interim choir director on more than one occasion, member of the handbell choir, piano player, singing special music both solo and with her special friends. She was active in planning skits, dinners and music events over the years. However, the highlight for her was playing trumpet duets with her daughter Deb and seeing her grandchildren learning about Jesus.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary Cooper and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gerry leaves a family that loved her so very much. This includes her husband, George Bruce Herider, of Moberly; her daughter, Debbie Lee (John) Derboven, of Moberly; Craig Halliburton of Columbia, MO; her precious grandchildren whom she loved with a passion and all called her Grams – Dylan Craig (Bethany) Derboven, Sadie Marie (Nick) Burge, all of Moberly; William “Willie” Craig (Trinity) Halliburton of Fort Campbell, KY; three great grandchildren, Preslee Marie Burge, Westin Wayne and Rhylin Dawn Derboven; and her precious dog Sammie.

Words of comfort can be expressed to the family with visitation on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Street Baptist Church and funeral on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Street Baptist Church. Internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be given to the Gerry Cooper-Herider Memorial Scholarship to be managed by Carpenter Street Baptist Church for approaching college students.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Avenue, Moberly, MO 65270 (660)263-7284. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.pathwaymemorial.com.
