Glenn L. Leathers, Jr., beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Cairo, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Glenn was born on January 31, 1936, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Glenn L., Sr. and Rebba (Keeler) Leathers. He grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1955. Glenn was united in marriage to Sandra K. Flayharty on August 11, 1957. He served in the Iowa National Guard and then lived and worked in several states, including Missouri, Colorado, and Wyoming, wherever his skills were needed.
In April of 1976, he and Sandra purchased a farm in Cairo, Missouri, where he spent the rest of his days enjoying his land and cattle. Glenn was a master carpenter who built several of his own houses and barns along with many other buildings in the local area. He also worked for Orscheln Farm and Home for many years. He enjoyed gardening, squirrel hunting, his many dogs, and spending time in the timber of his farm. He had a great sense of humor and was a prankster. His favorite pranks involved electric fences.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Leathers; sisters, Betty (Leathers) Keller and Pat (Leathers) Frieberg; two infant sons, John and James Leathers, all of Fairfield, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Jonathan (Shannon) Leathers, of Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Benjamin (Mary Ellen) Leathers, of Cairo, Missouri; daughter, Jessica Leathers, of Cairo, Missouri; grandsons, Steven and Brian, of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandsons Alex and Lee, of Cairo, Missouri; granddaughters, Janie (Tim) Bruce, of Columbia, Missouri, and Lori (Lance) Hudson, of Moberly, Missouri.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, Missouri, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
