Gwendolyn Rose Small, 79, of Cairo, passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital on June 30, 2015. Gwen was born to Robert Madison Albright and Margaret Gwendolyn (Bloomfield) Albright on November 20, 1935 in Denver Colorado. On April 15, 1966 she married Leroy Richard Small in Colorado. Gwendolyn worked for Bingo King making bingo cards. Thirteen years ago, the couple relocated to Cairo, Missouri where Gwendolyn became a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She spent her free time bowling and visiting the casino in Boonville. Gwen was a huge Denver Broncos fan and also enjoyed watching Nascar while cheering for Carl Edwards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her pets, whom she considered her babies – dogs King, Mitzie, and Zoey and cats Patches and Tinker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother Donald Albright and wife Janette of Higbee, sister Norma Esry of Moberly, brother-in-law Wayne Durham of Moberly as well as four generations of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law Gladys Small, her sisters Shirley Gravitt and Beverly Durham, brothers-in law James Esry and Lou Gravitt and her beloved sheltie, Shelby. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 9th at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Visitation will be at noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions would be appreciated to the Central Missouri Humane Society, 1201 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110.
