Hurschell Lee Lain

Hurschell Lee Lain, 84, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. He was born on June 1, 1937, in Marceline, Missouri, the son of Omar and Lena (Oliver) Lain. On February 24, 1995, Hurschell was united in marriage to Michelle “Mac” Havens. He graduated from Marceline High School and served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Loring, Maine, and Korea. Hurschell worked at Sears, Whitaker Cable, and the Degraw Theatre in Brookfield. He later owned and ran the Lain Cedar Cinema. Hurschell was a Boy Scout and later became a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of various Masonic Lodges for over 50 years. Hurschell was also a member of the local Shriners club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and running the movie theatre. He thoroughly enjoyed being a member of an Honor Flight for Veterans to Washington, D.C. Hurschell enjoyed sitting in his chair, chewing on this big cigar, while taking tickets and greeting patrons of his theatre. He loved telling stories and jokes. Hurschell is survivd by his wife of 26 years, Michelle Lain of Moberly, Missouri; two sons: Tony Lain and his wife Tonda of Kirksville, Missouri and Tracy Lain and his girlfriend, Linda Klein of the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; three daughters: Joy Brumbaugh and her husband, Tom of Moberly, Missouri, Julie Barron and her husband Howard of Moberly, Missouri, and Amber Gilmore and Dakota of Kansas City, Missouri; stepchildren: Mike Hackman of Glasgow, Missouri, Nick Hackman of Fayette, Missouri, Joe Hackman and wife Sammie of Keytesville, Missouri, and Pam Heckes and Nik of Moberly, Missouri; one sister, Joyce Williams of Brookfield, Missouri; one brother, Ronald Lain of Oak Grove, Missouri; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and great grandchild, Lola Apel. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly. A Masonic service will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Ron McPherson officiating. Burial will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Missouri, with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist in expenses or donor’s choice.
