Jackie Lea Powell, age 73, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing.
She was born September 21, 1948 in Moberly, Missouri to Charles and Patricia Griggs. She married William (Bill) Powell Jr. on May 20, 1979, who preceded her in death in 2020. Jackie and Bill resided and raised their family in Macon, Missouri for many years.
Jackie retired from ConAgra in Macon after many years of service in 1999, where she and Bill then relocated to Farmerville, Louisiana. Jackie worked at H&R Block during the 15 years that she and Bill resided in Louisiana before moving back to Missouri. Jackie was best known for her sassy personality. She radiated honesty and integrity, but her best trait was perhaps her devotion to her children and grandchildren. She did not know a stranger. If you were hungry, or even if you weren’t, she fed you. If you needed advice, or even if you didn’t she was always there, unselfishly and unconditionally. This was just a testament to her strength and character.
Jackie was an active member of the Moberly Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering her time to raise funds for multiple charities and benefits. Jackie particularly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays, watching the cooking channel, reading romance novels, and getting her nails done with her granddaughters T’Leah, Taylor, and Ashmann.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her brother Conrad (Bonnee) Griggs of Springfield, sisters Connie Foster and Carolyn Lamberson of Moberly, mother-in-law Alta Powell of Macon, brother-in-law Terry (Janice) Powell of Bevier, son Chris Powell of Green City, daughters, Rhonda Rogers of Kirksville, Michelle (Shane) Brown of Macon, Courtney (Eric) Perkins of Marshall, and Ashley Powell of Moberly, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Moberly Eagles Moberly, Missouri.
