James Cassitty (Cass) Avery, 33, passed away at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO September 13, 2019.
James was born August 20, 1986 in Columbia, MO to David Avery and Susan Lebeck Avery Pierce. He attended Madison and Moberly schools and worked as a handyman. He built ramps for people, cleaned their gutters, mowed their lawns, repaired their lawnmowers and shoveled snow.
Preparing BBQ for his family and friends was a favorite pastime. He excelled at cooking pork steaks, burgers and brats. He loved being outdoors and fishing in the family pond as well as the neighbors ponds. He was a movie buff and especially liked action movies, but Friday the 13th , The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy were also favorites.
Cass had a huge heart and good sense of humor. He always left by saying “I love you, see you later”.
Those preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Max and Dee Lebeck, paternal grandparents Helen and Bill Avery, a favorite uncle, James Robert (Sonny) Avery, special cousin Greg Riley and brother-in-law Tony Searcy.
He is survived by his parents, Susan and David Pierce of Moberly and David Avery of Moberly; siblings, Jessica (Jason) Stubbs of Moberly, Krystal Searcy of LaMont, MO, Lisa (Bryan) Dungan of Fulton, Nicole Pacelli of Florida, a special friend for life, Dan (Diamond) King of Huntsville, extended family and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
