James Avery

James Robert “Sonny” Avery, 73, of Moberly, passed away May 12, 2016 at Cox Hospital in Branson, MO. Sonny was born May 16, 1942 in Moberly, MO to William Robert Avery and Helen Virginia Roberts Avery. He married Ellen Howard on January 22, 1966 in Moberly. Sonny was a lifelong resident of Moberly where he worked in construction. He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed the company of his grandkids. Those preceding him in death are his parents and an infant sister, Diana Brooke Avery. He is survived by his children; Russell Messer of St. Louis, MO, John (Brenda) Avery, Stephen Avery, Ellie (David) Bugg, Tracy (Scott) Wright, Genie (Shawn) Davidson, Melissa (Billy) Ayers all of Moberly; three brothers and three sisters; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home in Moberly with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday May 15, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
