James Allen Crutchfield Sr., 56, of Moberly, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his home. He was born May 14, 1958 to Arthur James Crutchfield Sr. and Carolyn Sue Stringer. On May 22, 1976 he married Mary Bailey in Rolla, MO.
James served honorably in the United States Army from 1976 to 1980. He was well known as ‘The Ice Cream Man” as he owned and operated an ice cream truck for 5 years. James loved music and bowling. He was a baseball fanatic and avid Cardinal fan. He enjoyed coaching baseball for many years for both the Optimist and Midget Leagues. His two “grandbabies”, Sophia and Ava were his pride and joy.
James was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, two sisters and his stepfather George Mohr.
Survivors include his wife Mary, of Moberly, MO; his mother Carolyn Mohr, of Moberly, MO; siblings, Art (Denise) Crutchfield, of Huntsville, MO and Paula Reed, of Carroll, IA; his beloved children, Jimmy (Kasey) Crutchfield, of Moberly, MO, and Austin Crutchfield, Steven Crutchfield, Anna Crutchfield and Nathan Crutchfield all of Moberly, MO; his grandchildren Ava and Sophia Crutchfield, of Moberly, MO as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Services celebrating James’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. His family will honor his wishes and he will be cremated following the funeral service. Inurnment will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with full military honors at a future date.
