James Wallace Holtzclaw Jr.

James Wallace Holtzclaw, Jr., age 73, of Higbee, MO, went home to the Lord, surrounded by family on November 23, 2023, at his home. 

Jim was born on March 25, 1950, in Moberly, MO to James Wallace Holtzclaw, Sr. and Norma Lou Fristoe.  He graduated from Higbee High School.  In 1959, he moved to Higbee, MO, and accepted a position as a lieutenant, at Missouri Department of Correction where he worked for more than 28 years.  He was a member of the Southern Randolph Christian Chapel. He married Cindy McGraw on April 18, 1980, in Higbee, MO.  Jim was a social, active man.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.  His family will always remember him as a kind-hearted man who loved to joke around.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathy; and his nephew, James Lee (Jamie).

Jim is survived by his wife, Cindy, of Higbee, MO; his children, Daniel Holtzclaw and wife Lorena, of Higbee, MO,  Missy Holtzclaw, of Higbee, MO  and Travis Holtzclaw and wife Cayla, of Cabot, AR; grandchildren Abigail Barron, of Salisbury, MO, Dakota Rodgers and wife Emily, of Fayette, MO, Jessica Rodgers, of Jefferson City, MO, Gracie Holtzclaw, of Cabot, AR, Mason Holtzclaw, of Cabot, AR; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Rodgers, of Fayette, MO, and Raelynn Rodgers, of Fayette, MO; siblings Richard (Dickie) Holtzclaw, of Higbee, MO, LouAnn Ware, of Higbee, MO, and Henry Holtzclaw, of Cairo, MO. 

Stanley Steven’s lived in the home and took care of Jim while Cindy was at work.

A celebration of life in honor of Jim has been scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lion’s Club in Higbee, Missouri.
