James Robert Shepherd Sr.

James Robert Shepherd, Sr., 65, of Moberly, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2020, at 2:12 p.m. at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, surrounded by his family. James was born on August 23, 1954, in Columbia, Missouri, to Mary “Phyllis” Morris and Charles Lee Shepherd. He worked for Jean and Tim Hess Septic Tank nearly his entire life. He loved country music, fishing, hunting, working on the truck, BBQ, watching T.V, raising hell, and loved to dance, but most of all he loved spending quality time with all of his family. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and great friend to all who knew him. He never knew a stranger. He took in most of his grandkids to raise like his own. He loved his wife more than life itself. He loved speaking and spending time with his sister. James was preceded in death by his father, Charles Shepherd; mother, Phyllis Hess; step-father; Thomas Hess; sister, Mary Luntsford; and his son, Brandon VanBibber. He is survived by his wife, Metha Shepherd of Moberly, Missouri; two daughters: Jamie (Bruce) Pierce and Amber Moran; two sons: Gage Shepherd and James Shepherd, all of Moberly, Missouri; sister, Jean Hess of Moberly, Missouri; brother, Tommy Hess of Moberly, Missouri; nephews: Richard and Daniel Luntsford of Moberly, Missouri, Trevor Hess of Moberly, Missouri, and Tim Hess of Youngtown, Ohio; brother, Danny Luntsford of Jacksonville, Missouri; grandchildren: Kaylee and Kelsie Moran, Annalice and Racheal Patterson, Annabella and Abagail Pierce all of Moberly, Missouri, Samantha Patterson of Winterhaven, Florida, Mason, Landon and Brently Lawson all of Moberly, Missouri, Kayleb Pierce, Caleb Million, and Debra Shepherd all of Moberly. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Family Life Fellowship, Moberly, Missouri. Cremation has been accorded to Million Taylor Funeral Homes of Moberly.
