James LeRoy Stuck, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2024, at age 98.
LeRoy was born August 24, 1925, in Cairo, Mo to Lillie and Loyd Stuck. He married Darline Brandow on September 9, 1950, in Moberly, Missouri.
LeRoy worked and lived in Moberly and Clark until he retired from Everlast Sporting Goods in 1989. He was an active member and Trustee of the Carpenter Street Baptist Church. After retirement, he farmed full-time and then moved permanently to Laurie, MO where they had a home on the Lake of the Ozarks. While at the lake, he helped with the remodeling/construction project of the Sunrise Baptist Church. In 1994, LeRoy and Darline became “Winter Texans,” enjoying their time in the Rio Grand Valley. While in Texas, they attended the Baptist Church in La Feria, helping with “Kids Corner” and they became active in missionary work in Mexico. They spent their last 18 years there working with Sonshine Ministry and continue to support them today. As a part of the ministry, LeRoy helped with construction projects and supplying materials needed in the communities. LeRoy also enjoyed wood working and had many projects through the years. Most recently, he spent time building cedar chests for his family, crosses and prayer boxes for family, friends, and many others.
LeRoy has always been a man of faith and few words, but there was never any question about the depth of his love for his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Lillie Stuck; daughter-in-law, Paula Stuck; siblings, Wilma Grant (Dean), Marvin Stuck (Mary), Pete Stuck (Twilla), Leonard Stuck (Joyce), Norma Mulnix (Lonnie).
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Darline Stuck of Moberly, MO; son, Mike (Shirley) Kleen, Estero FL; daughter, Lesa Rapert (Darren), Moberly, MO; granddaughters, Amy Armstrong (Billy) of Kaufman, TX and Abby Martin (Kyle) of Boonville, MO; great-grandchildren, Caleb Armstrong and Adam Armstrong both of Kaufman, TX, Breklyn Martin, Kaden Martin, Kellen Martin all of Boonville, MO; sister, Virginia Ryan (Bernie), Centralia, MO; nieces; nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be sent to the Sonshine Ministries c/o Brandon and Shelia Freeland at 15257 US 83 Expressway Harlingten, TX 78552 in honor of LeRoy.
A visitation celebrating LeRoy 's life will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. Military honor's will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. The family welcomes anyone who may like to join the procession to the cemetery from Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, we will begin procession at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
