James Donald (Don) Tuley, 82, of Moberly passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. He was born on April 24, 1935 to James Wilson Tuley and Hazel Richardson Tuley in Moberly, MO; where he lived for most of his life. On September 9, 1956, he married the love of his life, Gwenetha Fay Burnam at the First Baptist Church in Moberly, MO.
Don was a member of First Baptist Church for over 62 years, where he served as a deacon for several years. Don started his career working for the Missouri State Highway Department in 1955. He then went to work for the City of Moberly in July of 1964, as the Assistant City Engineer. In July of 1969, he was promoted to the Director of Community Development. In October of 1993, Don took on the role of City Manager. He retired in July of 1997, after working for the City of Moberly for 33 years.
Don enjoyed bowling and was an avid Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed coaching softball. He started coaching his oldest daughter Pam in 1967. He went on to coach his youngest daughter Tammy, as well as his granddaughter Brandy. In 2000, he hung up his coaching hat after 33 years.
Those preceding Don in death are his parents; his beloved wife, Gwen and son, James Steven Tuley.
Survivors include his children, Pam and Keith Gilmore and Tamara and Bill Gardner; grandchildren, Brandy and Matt Cook, Dustin and Tanya Wright, Joshua Wright, Cody and Felicia Mason, Colton Gardner and Kristopher Gilmore; great-granddaughter, Hayden Wright; extended family and many good friends.
Services celebrating the life of Don Tuley will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
