Jerry Wayne Gumm, 52, of Moberly passed away December 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Kansas City, MO on May 23, 1966 to Duane Gumm and Sarah (Michaels) Gumm.
Jerry was an over the road truck driver for over 37 years. He loved to travel to every state and was happy when he reached his million-mile goal. Later he worked for Mid-Am Building Supply and then Advanced Disposal where he continued to drive a truck. On December 31, 1997 he married Sherry Updegraff Wilson at his mother’s house in Carrolton, MO.
Jerry liked fishing and riding his motorcycle with his friends. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Most of all, Jerry loved his family. He loved to BBQ, spend time with his grandkids and pester his mother-in-law, Mary. Jerry was a hard worker and a great husband, father and grandfather.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Duane and Sarah Gumm.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Wilson of Moberly; his daughter, Christi (Troy) Garven of Higbee; grandchildren, Brandon, Shelby and Katelynn Garven all of Higbee; sisters, Joane (Dan) Boulware of Montgomery City, Faye Hood of Ohio and Carol Gumm of Independence; brother, Duane Gumm of Kansas City; step-mother, Barbara Gumm of Independence; mother-in-law, Mary Updegraff of Moberly; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Jerry also had 5 spoiled fur babies (dachshunds), Angel, Bella, Sissy Lou, Macy and Tiny. They will miss him dearly.
A memorial service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Family Life Fellowship, 1614 Highway 24 E, Moberly, MO. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Family Life Fellowship from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
