Jerry Lee Payton

Jerry Lee Payton, 86, of Moberly, MO, went home to the Lord on November 16, 2021, at Monroe Manor- Paris, MO.

Jerry was born on June 11, 1935 in Moberly, MO, to Charles Payton and Julia Anderson Payton.

He graduated from Moberly High School. Jerry worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for 40 years.

He was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church and was very active with the Family Life Fellowship Church.

Jerry and Barbara Morton were married on June 27, 1954 in Moberly, MO.

Jerry was an active member who was deeply involved in the youth ministry for the majority of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Cardinal baseball.

His family and friends will always remember him as a devoted father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Payton and one son-in-law, Bill Fish.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barbara Payton of Moberly, MO; three children, Debbie Fish of Huntsville, MO; Cathy Reed and husband Wayne of Cabot, AR and Dave Payton and wife Marsha of Huntsville, MO; six grandchildren, Jeremiah Fish and wife Cortney of Columbia, MO, Wallace Fish of Huntsville, MO, Adam Reed and Kristen of Cabot, AR, Aaron Reed and wife LeeAnn of Cabot, AR, Dylan Payton of Huntsville, MO and Justin Payton of Huntsville, MO; seven great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

A private graveside service celebrating Jerry’s life has been scheduled for Friday, November 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery, Moberly, MO.
